Most Recent Patch (11.1):

Version 11.1 - Transmission

We're back to our regularly scheduled updates! Now that I've fixed up a lot of backend issues with the mobile port and added in some smaller features I was looking for a time to finish, we're back to full-on story mode!

Today's update is focused on continuing Echo's personal quest, which takes some very unexpected turns. Now that Azalia's back in action, you've got that crest expert around to help point you in the right direction for what Echo exactly is, and what she may be capable of. You'll be gathering some information on what kind of effects Echo has on other people, as well as reuniting with a highly requested character from early on in Chapter 1. Yes, it's probably the mom you're thinking it is, and she's going to be significantly more relevant for the new few updates. There's also two new scenes for two characters that have never had a scene before, so please enjoy :p

And speaking of future updates, the next update will be focused around keeping a promise you likely made in Chapter 1, and flexing your position as the new head of Chios Community College to get what you want. Make sure you study up, because being a tutor is hard work ;p

Patch Notes:

New Content:

  • Echo's Personal Quest Continues!
    • Newbourne Crests.
    • Lustcrest Connections, and a New Ability?
    • Testing Echo's Aura.
    • One new smexy scene with a familiar character.
    • One new smexy scene with a returning character from Chapter 1.

About Daybreak Nightbreak:

Daybreak Nightbreak is a sandbox-styled visual novel dating simulator, solo developed by me, Mr. Scribbly. The story follows a young man through his discovery of an alternate dimension mirroring his own, as well as the implications behind the actions of an ever-growing doomsday cult. Unbeknownst to the young man, he's been infused with the ability to form his own group of worshippers, which may be the key to stopping the collapse of both realms.

Daybreak Nightbreak takes place in the fictional city of Chios: a smaller, but somewhat developed hub of interesting characters. Enjoy searching for new opportunities while exploring around town, running a small business in direct competition with a major corporation, and spending some time hopping between these two uncannily similar locales. Participate in a mob drama, check in on your old college, and go gambling! The wide breadth of stories available will keep you immersed in a lively city, and they've only just begun!

In terms of a relative time period, the general public is in the modern age, with other relevant parties leaning more towards some sci-fi or even medieval technology and practices. The encroachment of several outside parties will drive varied points of conflict throughout the main story, as well as many of the side stories.

The narrative design of the game focuses on major decision making, choices with consequences, business/finance management, large-scale puzzle solving, relationship building, combat, and more. The current version has the entirely of the intro and first chapter completed, with the second chapter already in the works. The estimated playtime of the current version is well over 15 hours, with at least 10 major quests.

Daybreak Nightbreak's writing and design structure is directly inspired by games like Yakuza and Mass Effect, aiming to provide a wealth of different activities along with a varied cast of characters to grow attached to, with a sexualized twist. The game is being designed to have a 3 Act Structure. Set-Up, Decision Making, Payoff. The introduction and first chapter have served to set up the second chapter, and the available decisions will be directly affected by the community's input.

The current build of Daybreak Nightbreak contains the following themes/fetishes:

  • Harem
  • Milf
  • Mind Control/Mindbreak/Corruption
  • Ahegao
  • Big Tits
  • Big Ass
  • Cheating (NOT NTR/cheating on the player)
  • Cosplay
  • Creampie
  • Exhibitionism
  • Virgin
  • Couple Seduction
  • Goblins (As in Goblin Girls)

Some planned themes/fetishes include:

  • Lesbian
  • Catgirls
  • Vampires
  • Robot Girls
  • Even more, based on community feedback.

Daybreak Nightbreak will NEVER have:

  • NTR
  • AI
  • Piss/Scat
  • Sexualized Gore/Mutilation (Although you should expect minor amounts of blood, as there are scenes of violence.)
  • Necrophilia
  • Loli/Shota

Anyone asking for these will be ignored. I will never have the intention of adding these.

Daybreak Nightbreak's development will be primarily community driven, and frequent polls and surveys will be released to the public, with extra polls exclusively for Patreon & SubscribeStar members.

NO IN-GAME CONTENT FOR DAYBREAK NIGHTBREAK WILL EVER BE EXCLUSIVE TO PATREON /SUBSCRIBESTAR DONORS, BUT DONORS WILL GET EXCLUSIVE EARLY ACCESS TO BUILDS, ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHER EXCLUSIVE PERKS .

About me:

I'm Mr. Scribbly, the main (and only) developer for the Daybreak Nightbreak! I've spent the past two years developing my passion project for anyone willing to give it a chance. While I know Daybreak Nightbreak won't be the first of its genre, I'm hoping that the two years of development and refinement, along with my personal philosophies on writing and game design, will help the project become something important to you. I'm hoping to make this into my primary job, so please consider donating if you'd like to see where the game is headed, or possibly influence it yourself!

How do i contact Haley after agreeing to babysit Jackie?

This is just to comment on something I've noticed, and I don't know if people have mentioned this before or if you know or care, or who started this, but... have you noticed your game has a weirdly ridiculous number of similarities with Project COR, aka Champion of Realms?

An entity of another world encounters a 'regular' protagonist while on the search for something. Turns out that not only is that entity a childhood friend of the protag that both had forgotten due to forced amnesia, but also the protag is surprisingly a 'magic' user who also happens to have never-before-seen powerful 'magic' at their disposal that they need to learn to use. They recruit normal and 'otherworld' girls until they end up getting involved with affairs dealing with plots/plans far greater then them with the greatest/most powerful entities involved. This causes the protag to make a new central hub  home and set on the goal to recruit even more girls in the fight against this while still getting more powerful themselves.

Also, the protag's source of power happens to be related to a living entity inside of them who happens to look like a shortstack. Also the lost childhood friend has powerful parents and the second 'otherworlder' you come across is a researcher.

These are all things I can say about both games, lol. Not saying either of you took from either, but damn. It hit me hard when I noticed it all.

Well... many games here on Itch inspire each other. Sometimes, they do a collab like Dimension 69 and Lustful Sin. Does it matter if they have numerous similarities? Not really. By the end of the day, it's all about the presentation of each developer. In other words, it's all about how they deliver their game.

In of itself, yeah I have no problems, and it's not a bad thing, I just noticed the crazy amount of same things one day when I was thinking of both games. It's only really a problem if one dev has a problem with the other, and I don't know, nor think they do.

For now, I heard nothing of the sort. I guess it's safe to assume that they're not on bad terms.

Never spoken to them in my life :p But I respect the hell out of their work

Hey! So I read this comment, and I think it honestly has some really neat discussion points, so I figured I'd talk a bit about Daybreak Nightbreak's inspirations.

To start off with, yes and no. The general mechanics and gameflow of DbNb are based off mechanics found in games like COR and CK, because they just suit the genre very well and are great for interesting narrative exploration. Hearing you comparing DbNb to COR is actually pretty cool, because I have a lot of respect for that game and I think it's really solid, so thanks! :p

That being said, it's mostly a mechanical inspiration that I've taken from those games, not a narrative one. Although, after reading your post, there are definitely similarities lol. I'll go over what you mentioned point-for-point. Lock-in, it's gonna be a lot.

"An entity of another world encounters a 'regular' protagonist while on the search for something. Turns out that not only is that entity a childhood friend of the protag that both had forgotten due to forced amnesia, but also the protag is surprisingly a 'magic' user who also happens to have never-before-seen powerful 'magic' at their disposal that they need to learn to use."

- I don't even remember who this is in the context of COR, although I believe is Asmedia (the girl who wears green)? To be completely honest, Eisheth was originally made to be more of a character trope to help familiarize people with the basics of DbNb's world and she serves as a tutorial character, rather than being a direct parallel to anything else. Although, seeing your post does definitely show me some connections there.

"They recruit normal and 'otherworld' girls until they end up getting involved with affairs dealing with plots/plans far greater then them with the greatest/most powerful entities involved. This causes the protag to make a new central hub  home and set on the goal to recruit even more girls in the fight against this while still getting more powerful themselves."

- This is a mechanical similarity rather than a narrative one, at least in my eyes. Yes, the "girl collecting" is an intentional similarity between the two, as I think recruiting is just a naturally fun thing to do in games. And considering the nature of DbNb, it would naturally be people from both worlds to help broaden the scope of how the world works. I personally see this as more of a common RPG game mechanic (think recruitment in Fire Emblem games), of course with a naughty twist in both games. And I believe that both games handle the system differently, although I haven't touched any games like COR or CK in years specifically to avoid diluting my idea pool and to keep my ideas original.

"Also, the protag's source of power happens to be related to a living entity inside of them who happens to look like a shortstack."

- I'm gonna be straight with you, the inspiration for Echo came from Midna from Twilight Princess. She was original going to be more sassy like her inspiration, but late before the first public release, I decided to pivot her more towards being unaware of why and how she exists. She serves the narrative primarily to learn more about what crests are and how they came to be (which will be coming up next in terms of the next few updates). I don't think the COR shortstack character existed when I last played, but it's cool that we had similar ideas! I know many games with direct "companion characters" tend to have it be someone small (think of fairies, pixie, etc), so it's likely we both came to similar conclusion independently. Although, again, very cool because I think it's a great idea!

"Also the lost childhood friend has powerful parents and the second 'otherworlder' you come across is a researcher."

- This is just narrative convenience, although your analysis is somewhat off. You meet Eisheth, Tsumi, AND Naamah before meeting Azalia. But she does come early into the plot primarily to serve as a knowledge-base for the player. If anything, it's just purely coincidental because I really don't remember much from Asmedia (again, I don't even remember if that's her name lol it's been years).

Either way, I think it's awesome to be compared to such well-known games! I appreciate that the narrative I've been writing for almost 3 years now makes you think of such a solid game, because being compared to quality just motivates me to do even better! Thanks for the analysis, it gave me something to talk about :P

I'm missing the last scene for Sarah but it won't show me it's locked until the 2nd chapter, is there something I'm missing?

Nope. You unlock it in Chapter 2. I know that was a bug on a previous version, but I believe I already patched it? Which version are you playing on

I'm playing on version 11.0

Weird. I'll double check it on my end and see what the issue is for the next update.

your game crashed when i tried to take the float thing and i didnt save and lost alot of progress

What's the float thing? If there's a major crash issue, I've gotta look into it

its where you are offered the drugs by the couple at the park and if you try them your game crashe

I'll take a look into it, thanks!

(1 edit)

I'm in chapter 2 and doing the exam for Sarah's quest. I'm pretty sure I'm answering them correctly but it keeps telling me I'm wrong

Edit: Nevermind, figured out I'm not supposed to be honest on the last question for quite obvious reasons
